Description

We focus on two separate but related phenomena in the field of light-matter interactions.

On the one hand, we study the interaction of circularly polarized light with nanostructured matter with the main objective of augmenting the chiral interaction of light with chiral molecules. Specifically, through the use of optical antennas, we try to enhance the sensitivity of chiral spectroscopic techniques such as circular dichroism spectroscopy and the separation of chiral molecular enantiomers by optical means with high efficiencies.

On the other hand, we study the propagation of light through photonic crystals, specially designed to support topological features in their bandstructure. These emergent topological features, allow for the lossless propagation of light through chiral surface states.
